A camper is a motor vehicle or a trailer equipped for recreational camping. There are two more common categories of campers: camper vans and travel trailers.
Camper vans are self-propelled vehicles providing both transport and sleeping places. The machine and the living space are on the same chassis, and the inside of the camper can be accessed from the front seats. Camper vans are sometimes equipped with an elevated roof that is raised during camping. Some vans can stay off the grid as they have an auxiliary generator.
Travel trailers are compact homes towed by a car, a pickup, or truck and attached with a hitch. They enable people to stay in places without any hotel available. Once the trailer is unhitched and left at a campsite, the tow vehicle is free to help the travelers while sightseeing. Travel trailers come in many shapes and sizes and accommodate individual travelers as well as large families.
